The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuild v5.0.9
November 15, 2005
The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding v5.0.9 has been released. Version 5.0.9 deals with a few bugs, including a bug affecting the display of event-specific notes that was introduced in the previous version released a few days ago. The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding is an online application that allows you to display and collaborate on genealogy data on the internet.
Fixes/Updates:
* Event-specific notes were not being displayed if the administrator had elected to display them next to their associated events (introduced in 5.0.8).
* Change dates displayed on the RSS page were one day earlier than expected for anyone west of GMT because the time was listed as 00:00:01 GMT. To minimize this effect, times are now set to 12:00:01 GMT.
* Log entries for histories stored in the database did not contain the docID, resulting in invalid links.
Fictional Online Family Trees
November 14, 2005
Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter has a story and discussion concerning somebody producing software that could generate fictional online family trees for commercial purposes.
It’s heated to say the least, and we are curious to see how it turns out. The reason why we mention this - some members of the genealogy software community (notably Millenia Corporation - Legacy Family Tree) have waded into this debate.
The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding - New Templates
November 12, 2005
From Darrin Lythgoes, creator of The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding:
One more note: Last time I offered $25 to anyone who could submit a new template. Only one person took me up on it, but it turned out to be a good one (template #5). The offer still stands, so if you’ve got something, I’d love to see your work!
