Clooz 2.0 - Beta Testers Wanted

Clooz 2.0 is entering it’s final beta testing phase, and they are looking for beta testers. As you’ll recall, Clooz is is a database for systematically organizing and storing all of the clues to your ancestry that you have been collecting over the years. This is NOT another genealogy program! It is an electronic filing cabinet that assists you with search and retrieval of important facts you have found during the ancestor hunt.

The beta test is free, and this is a good chance to provide feedback on an application many of us use, as well as to get a look at what’s to come. The current beta runs through April 15, 2006 and will stop working after that. They remind you that you should just test the program rather than start doing your data entry as the program still is in beta testing.

New Features in Version 2.0:

Now they say it requires Windows XP or Windows 2003 because it was reprogrammed in .Net, however I’m hoping there will be support for 98/2000. As we find out more information, we’ll let you know.

GeneoTree v 2.0

We recently came across an open-source online genealogy application, GeneoTree (less than a week ago), and now a major update has been released. GeneoTree is now at version 2.0. It’s main homepage is located at GeneoTree.sourceforge.net, it requires PHP and MySQL, and is based on using GEDCOM data files. You can view screenshots here (check out the neat PDF Report screenshot).

Developer’s Description: Genealogy Software. Geneotree is a gedcom files PHP viewer. It is a complete software with original features as consanguinity lists, cousins’ lists, dynamic trees, prize list or PDF Reports. Optimized ergonomics, no seizure, only clicks.

The Master Genealogist v6.08.000

The Master Genealogist v6.08.000 is available from Wholly Genes Software. The Master Genealogist is a popular windows genealogy/family tree application. This version adds several major new features and improvements.

Version 6.08.000 is a free update to current v6.0 users, and does require a previous installation of v6.0 or later: To download and apply the update, run TMG, access the Help menu and choose “Check for an update.” Alternatively, you can choose “Check for a Program Update” from the Windows Start menu > The Master Genealogist group. The update will be applied automatically. Upon restarting, the startup screen will reflect a version number of “v6.08.000.”
