Using Legacy Family Tree on a PC and a Laptop

Legacy News has an article about using Legacy Family Tree on both a laptop and a PC, and what happens when you accidently start updating the two independent of one another.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. If you’re using Legacy on a PC and a laptop, sometimes that happens. Fortunately, we have designed Legacy to accomodate for these situations. But first, we recommend reading the article, “Backup and File Restoration” at http://legacyfamilytree.com/tipsBackups.asp. This article explains how to easily transfer information back and forth between a PC and a laptop.

If you’ve accidentally added information to both family files (one on the laptop and one on the PC), Legacy’s IntelliShare will help you get back on the right track.

Legacy Family Tree 6.0.0.83

Legacy Family Tree Version 6.0.0.83 is now available for downloading/updating. If you already own Legacy 6.0 Deluxe, you can update to the latest version by clicking “Install and Download Now” from the Legacy Home tab (from within Legaacy, of course). Standard users of this Windows genealogy program need to visit the download page to get the latest update.

New: Increased the field length of the Marriage User ID to 50 to match the field length of the Individual’s User ID
Fixed: Notes – minor update to fix a problem with notes that a couple of people were running into

Legacy Family Tree 6.0.0.82

Legacy Family Tree Version 6.0.0.82 is available. If you are already a Legacy 6.0 Deluxe user, you can click “Install and Download Now” from the Legacy Home tab (from within Legaacy, of course). If you are a “Standard” user of this Windows genealogy program, you need to visit the download page to get the latest update. There are a lot of changes in this version.

Among the highlights:
* Date Formats – Legacy now recognizes quarter dates commonly used in UK BMD Index records. (e.g. Mar Q 1873, Jun Q 1873, Sep Q 1873, Dec Q 1873)
* Text Editor Window in the Publishing Center – Added Spell Checking option.
* Book Reports – The Table of Contents is now generated and moved to the beginning of the report.
* Publishing Center – All the introductory sections (Title Page, Copyright, Dedication, Preface, and Abbreviation pages) are now displayed before the Table of Contents as they should be.
* Family Group Record – The Last Modified date now shows the most current date for anyone on the report. This includes the husband, wife, children, parents or spouses.
