Legacy Family Tree and “Fake Family”

As a follow-up to a story yesterday about software that would allow advertisers to create fake family trees, the Deseret News has a new article up, that mentions an interesting bit of news:
In turn, makers of the Legacy Family Tree software threatened to sue Harrold if he did not remove from his Web site instructions about how to download free software from them that could assist the Fake Family program.
Fictional Online Family Trees

Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter has a story and discussion concerning somebody producing software that could generate fictional online family trees for commercial purposes.
It’s heated to say the least, and we are curious to see how it turns out. The reason why we mention this - some members of the genealogy software community (notably Millenia Corporation - Legacy Family Tree) have waded into this debate.
Genealogy Software Guide

Genealogy Software Guide has a new layout. We’ve been debating the best way to present the information (and are still tweaking things) so that it’s easy to navigate, and have finally hit upon a solution that looks better. Now we can concentrate on putting the discussion forums and screenshot gallery online.
One thing we are going to work on, that will take time, is that we are going to eventually add all of the genealogy software we can find to this site. Right now we are trying to focus on current software, but over time we’d like to have it as a general reference for genealogy software (covering all platforms as well).
